Exhibition title: Splendours of the Haute Époque
S Franses was established in 1909 by Sidney Franses, supplying museums and collectors. The firm’s first recorded sale - to the Victoria and Albert Museum - was a medieval English embroidery in 1937, as well as several sales to the Royal household. David Franses, now aged 92, expanded the firm from the 1950’s and still maintains a presence at the gallery - now run by his son Simon. Franses is today Europe’s leading dealership in historic tapestry, carpets and textile art.
