SAW - Where we Are, and Where we have Been; Ancient and Modern Art close up
Kallos is ancient Greek for ‘Beauty'. Founded in 2014 by Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza, Kallos Gallery is a London gallery specialising in antiquities and ancient art. Kallos sell only the most extraordinary pieces from Antiquity, offering Ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Western Asiatic and European masterpieces. Each artwork has been carefully chosen for its outstanding artistic merit, cultural significance, and provenance.
This session will be led by Head of Education at Kallos, Paul O'Mahony. Paul is an actor and writer, and the artistic director of Temple Theatre. He studied Classics at Oxford and recently directed Much Ado About Nothing in the US in his role as Eminent Artist-in-Residence at the University of Wyoming.
Slow Art Workshop – SAW – is to give people of any age curious about any kind of art the opportunity of looking at it and, more importantly, handling it, within a small group led by a specialist dealer or curator. These workshops are not talks, or master classes for aficionados, but environments in which anyone can engage with objects first hand, look, think and ask questions. They are as much about passion and pleasure as knowledge; offering a gentle reminder that there is more out there than contemporary art.
