Egypt Uncovered: Belzoni and the Tomb of Pharaoh Seti I
Joanna Tinworth, Exhibitions Curator at Sir John Soane's Museum, and Adam Lowe, Founder and Director of Factum Arte and the Factum Foundation for Digital Technology in Conservation collaborated on the Soane's current exhibition Egypt Uncovered: Belzoni and the Tomb of Pharaoh Seti I.
In the bicentenary year of the re-discovery of the sarcophagus of Seti I, now preserved at Sir John Soane's Museum, they will discuss Belzoni and Soane's engagement with this important antiquity and its continued appeal to visitors to the Museum and researchers alike. Lowe has been instrumental in producing the displays for another current exhibition about the tomb: Scanning Seti - the regeneration of a pharaonic tomb at the Antikenmuseum in Basel and will explore the significance of cutting edge digital technology in extending our appreciation of the sarcophagus - and art and antiquities more widely.
